A unique book about the nascent punk music subculture in Austin, Texas, which takes place in the mid 1980s when the American punk scene was blazing.
One Punk Summer was written when the author lived in Berlin in 1990 – 1991 on an exchange program between the University of Texas at Austin and The Free University of Berlin.
The characters have a blast in Austin discovering punk, partying, leaving home, and scratching out a living with all kinds of comical odd jobs. They create their own world and manage to put a band together; they also struggle with too much booze and too much dope, alcohol and heroin addiction. Somehow they manage to pull it all together and get a gig at the legendary Raul’s Club on Guadalupe Street near the University of Texas.
